Allie just wrote a blog that seems like some commentary on the state of society, if I interpreted it right. I hope I did, because if I was wrong, this whole post is gonna be full of fail.
This world is all about glamour. Glamour, popularity, and wealth. Sure, there'll always be conflict. Some say we should completely avoid it, others advocate for it, and a few go as far as to take it into their own hands. But those people that run around, screaming "MAKE LOVE NOT WAR", are foolish in my eyes. War isn't something that you can stop. It's part of human nature.
In this generation that's basically ruled by the teenagers and young adults, the things adults only did at one point has been turned into something typical of teenagers. We smoke our cigarettes, we deal our weed, we drink our alcohol, and we bang each other. It's become so integrated into our culture, that there's almost no avoiding the things some of us choose to do. Now, I'm not the one to pressure people into doing things, but I do them, and it's my personal choice. My intention of not living past 40 might make me slightly biased, but smoking cigarettes has just become a habit, a daily routine. Weed's something for me to do in my free time. Drinking makes parties over 9000 times more fun. Some feel the need to go against authority, and doing those things is the easiest way to go. But sadly, those that claim all of those things are "so bad" usually haven't ever tried any of it. That actually makes them hypocrites. Anybody that tells me not to do certain things immediately loses all of my respect. They should keep their opinions to themselves.
As for the violence, there will always be murder and theft and stuff like that. There's some fucked up people in this world, and it's not going to change, no matter what you attempt to do to change it. Our culture's changed over time, and your single viewpoint won't change the millions of opposing views out there. Some people will always feel the need to start violence, for varying reasons. Personal vendettas, boredom, religious beliefs. Whatever it is, there will always be disagreements, and there isn't anything anyone can do to stop it.
In response to Allie calling Ben/MB/Kat/Emily "not fake", I'm not going to disagree with any of that, MB/Kat/Emily are some pretty cool kids, even though they make me rage every now and then. But calling somebody "not fake" is a serious mistake. Everyone's got something to hide. Everyone's influenced by peers beliefs, or pop culture in some way shape or form. Nobody can be purely themselves anymore. People act to keep their reputations clean, or for other reasons. Very few people act SOLELY on their own interests and beliefs anymore. There's always outside influence. I believe that everyone's fake in their own way.
Also, depending on how you act around it, there's no "good" or "bad" crowds, it just depends on how vulnerable to peer pressure you are.
To end this post, being high is one of the most relaxing feelings you can ever experience.
Don't talk about what you don't know.
I'm not trying to start intense arguments with this, I just felt like posting my personal viewpoints on what Allie brought up. Sorry if I offended anyone, I didn't mean it.
